Global Conference 2014
Crosscurrents in Latin American Business
Wednesday, April 30, 2014 / 10:00 am - 11:00 am
In the last decade, the transformation of Latin America's largest economies has generated record trade and investment flows in the region and produced some of the world's fastest-growing businesses. Middle-class demand for a wide range of products and services and the expansion of credit is driving the growth of domestic consumption in Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Peru and Chile. At the same time, investors from East Asia and the Middle East are taking stakes in real assets and backing infrastructure projects. As the Internet continues to penetrate these societies, Silicon Valley firms are backing a new generation of entrepreneurs launching e-commerce and mobile ventures. This panel will examine business opportunities in Latin America and discuss why foreign investors should view the region with cautious optimism.
