For more than a decade, we have heard about the promise of Big Data. Yet only in recent years have analytic capabilities advanced to a point where we can harness the volume, velocity and variety of this information to transform how we approach a range of global challenges and human activities. Today, data scientists are able to predict annual rainfall on specific tracts of land, parse genetic code to combat cancer, virtually map and forecast political violence and predict the likelihood of startup companies' success. Our panel will explore the data science revolution in progress, which has already reached deeply into our lives. What will the future impact be? What new tools will be put into the hands of businesses, consumers and leaders? What risks and ethical questions arise from data analytics and enhanced predictive powers?
