Christopher Ailman

Christopher Ailman is chief investment officer of the $185-billion California State Teachers' Retirement System, the largest teachers' fund and the second-largest pension fund in the United States. As chief investment officer, he leads an investment staff of 140 across eight divisions. Ailman has more than 29 years of institutional investment management experience. He is co-chair of the Milken Institute's Global Capital Markets Advisory Council. Ailman has received numerous awards and recognitions, including the aiCIO Innovation Award, and was named the No. 3 chief investment officer in the world by aiCIO magazine in 2013. He is a regular guest on CNBC and Bloomberg radio and TV. Ailman earned a B.A. in business economics from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and received his Certified Financial Planner designation from the University of Southern California.
